The Mateo chair was designed in house and is manufactured by hand in our Los Feliz studio. We cut everything on our own CNC machine and finish it all by hand. Nothing is mass produced, nothing is outsourced. Every Mateo that leaves the shop is one we actually built.
Squarage was started as a passion project to bring a sense of playfulness and whimsy to the objects around us. We believe that a piece only has a soul if it’s made locally by people who love the process. That’s us.

Absolutely. The Mateo Chair comes in three variants (Posé, Tabouret, and Dîner) with nine colors. We can also adjust dimensions within structural limits or apply a finish outside our standard palette as a custom order. Select "Custom Order" or contact us with the details you'd like.
Each piece is handmade in Los Angeles. Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks. Rush options may be available. Contact us if you need a faster turnaround.
Yes. We offer free pickup in Los Angeles and can arrange white-glove delivery within the area. Nationwide shipping is also available at checkout.
If your chair arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace it at no cost. Just email us photos within 48 hours of delivery.

Baltic birch is one of the most stable plywoods made (multi-layer construction with no internal voids), and the finger-slot joinery is structurally sound for daily use. The chair is not designed for prolonged exposure to the weather. Store indoors after outdoor use.
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery on standard pieces in original condition. Custom orders are final sale.
